Calder's Dairy and Farms has been family owned and run since 1946. Most of the milk produced is "Grade A" (meaning used for milk, not for cheese and butter) from 108 dairy cows on a farm in Carleton. The company founder, William Calder Sr., resides on the farm and checks on the dairy weekly. Milk is processed at the dairy in Lincoln Park. The milk is bottled in recyclable glass and delivered through 19 routes in Wayne, Monroe, Washtenaw, and Oakland counties. Calder's Dairy continues to make home deliveries of bottled milk as it has since it opened. Their trucks are unmistakable with big Holstein black markings and the Calder logo. Calder Dairy has 37 flavors of New England Style Ice Cream which is hand packaged on the farm. They also make egg nog available for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter seasons. The dairy has 66 employees. Resources: Calder Dairy. (2006). Calder's history: a tradition of service and quality. [online resource]. Personal interview. (2006. November 14). Alexin, S.
