Profiles: Dexter Cider Mill The Dexter Cider Mill is located on the banks of the Huron River. Built in 1886, Dexter Cider Mill is the longest continuously operated cider mill in Michigan. The mill is open from late August through mid November. The mill offers wood pressed cider, fresh apples, carmel apples, donuts, strudel, and turnovers. Made on the premises are: apple pies, old fashioned ginger snap cookies, applenut bread with walnut topping, original pastry mixes, jellies, and pickles. The mill has had three owners in its history. The current owner, Nancy Steinhuaer, is the second generation of her family to own the business. Her parents purchased the mill as a hobby and learned how to run the business through experience. The mill has its own orchard, and also offers apples from growers within 20 miles. Resources: Absolute Michigan. (2006). Dexter Cider Mill. [online resource] Personal interview. (2006.
