Profiles: Michigan House Cafe & Brewpub The Michigan House Cafe & Brewpub has a long history as a restaurant and saloon, dating back to 1893. Currently, the Red Jacket Brewing Company is located on the ground floor of the structure. The building was constructed in 1905 by the Bosch Brewing Company as one of several establishments used to market their brew to Upper Peninsula patrons. Prior to 1905, the Anglo-American Hotel was located on the site. The hotel included the Fox and Everts saloon on the ground floor. The building itself was known as "Michigan House." The bar has a large ceiling mural depicting Bosch beer drinkers in a biergarten setting. The mural was created in 1906 by the Milwaukee Artist's Association. According to local resident, Jack Foster, the bar was also known for its unique beer pump: it had flashing lights whenever a draught was pulled. The original bar was a standing bar without stools.
